This is a reminder of our policy on late requesting of medication on a late Friday afternoon or just as the staff are about to close the practice at 6.30pm.
As we are sure you are aware, expectation of the NHS is currently quite high. While we endeavour to manage your needs and access to the surgery, we are finding of late that the expectation cannot be met within the resources we have as a practice.
For instance, we have noticed we are getting an increasing number of calls late on Friday afternoon for patients who have forgotten to order medication and will run out over the weekend. You will start to see in such circumstances that we may not always be able to help you, and you will be advised to ring 111 who provide medication in such situations.
In certain instances we have had patients become aggressive and abusive towards our staff, which is always unacceptable as we operate with a zero tolerance policy.
It is ultimately the patient’s responsibility to ensure their prescriptions are ordered on time. We kindly ask that our patients understand the limitations of the NHS and not to take their frustrations out on our staff.
