The Spring 2026 Covid-19 programme commences on 13th April 2026 and ends 30th June 2026. The Iintegrated Care Board has identified gaps in provision to eligible housebound individuals and Care Home residents.
To bridge this gap, some Community Pharmacies (CPs) have agreed to provide cover by vaccinating housebound individuals and care home residents aligned to GP Practices not participating in this Spring Covid-19 programme.
JCVI advised that seasonal COVID-19 vaccine should be offered to:
- Individuals aged 75 years and over (including individuals who turn 75 years old by 30 June 2026).
- Residents in a care home for older adults (as defined through CQC registration), irrespective of the individual’s age.
- Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed (as defined in the immunosuppression row of tables 3 and/or 4 in the COVID-19 chapter of the Green Book.
If you are eligible for this year’s Spring Covid Booster, then NHSE has asked the Hertfordshire Community Trust (HCT) to deliver covid vaccinations to either the housebound or care home patients.
The housebound visits to eligible people will begin in May and continue until 30th June.
There is no need to call the team to book a visit, as your GP will have told the Team who needs a housebound visit.
- Before the visit, you will receive a telephone call from the Team, who will check that you wish to have the vaccination and that you still need a visit along with any special arrangements, like a key code.
- Before the Team visit, you will receive a text the day before, to the telephone number on your GP records, to let you know when the team will be visiting.
- The team offer home visits between 8:30am until 3:30pm.
- The team cannot offer a time, as they have several visits in any day.
If you wish to cancel a visit, then you can call 0300 555 5055 Suffolk and North East Essex Option 3 or email: [email protected]
