Ambient Voice Technology

Use of Ambient Voice Technology

Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) is being used at the Kelvedon & Feering health Centre from January 2026.

Your Clinician may ask if they can record your consultation. If you do not want this to happen, simply say no.

The recording is used to transcribe consultation notes. The clinician will check these for accuracy, make any changes needed, then save them into your record. This allows them to concentrate fully as you speak and save time typing at the end of the consultation. In trials we’ve found that the quality of the records is often better, and fuller than previous notes.

The recording is NOT ever stored beyond the end of the consultation. As soon as the clinician saves the record, the recording is deleted. This means your data is completely safe, but also that the recording could not be accessed at a later date even if you or the GP wanted it.

We are using Accurx Scribe which is fully accredited under NHS Information Governance standards.
